Wedding Vows - J.R. and Reva

Description: I asked Reva to send us her wedding vows, because she included part of them in a survey and they were so beautiful, I wanted to share the entire vows with everyone.

Hi Nannette,

JR and I had our vows taped ahead of time and when the time came for us to
say them, the sound man played the tape. The church had a very nice sound
system so it was heard very clearly and distinctly. Not too loud but
somewhat like in a surround-a-sound type system. We first said our marriage
vows, then our token vows. Here I am sending you BOTH just to give you an
idea about how 'spirit-filled' the ceremony was. We invited all of heaven
to be present and with the beautiful harp playing, we felt them.

Our WEDDING Vows:

J.R.'s Vow:

Reva, in the presence of God and in the presence of
our families and friends, I want to say to you that
for many years, I prayed that God would lead me to
His choice for a wife. And I know with all my heart
that His will is being fulfilled today.

Reva, I believe that God brought us here today and
that He was and is ever present in building our relationship
of love, and that He will forever be the foundation of
our future.

And so, today, as we go forward, I ask our Heavenly
Father to bless us with His love and His guidance.

I know that God is the Creator of love and romance,
and so today, I ask that He would shape our destiny as
man and wife, for nothing compares to the beauty of
His ways.

I ask that our love will shine for all of heaven and
earth to see. I want our life together to be a taste of
heaven, a picture of God's love, and a reflection of
His character.

Reva, today I pledge to you, all my love and all my
heart. And to God, I give the pen of my life, (the pen
of my romance, the pen of my heart, and the pen of my
love for you) and I'm asking Him to write a love story
for us unlike any before. A love story as such was
in the Garden of Eden (before the fall).

I love you and I thank God for the love that has bound
our hearts and lives together in a spiritual fellowship
of marriage.


Reva's Vow:

J.R., in the presence of our Lord and in the presence
of our loved ones, I, too, wish to say that for a long
time, I have prayed that if God has another husband for me,
he would be one who comes from him. Today, I thank God
for sending me such a man as you, strong in the faith of the
Lord, loving His word, and ever prayerful in all things.

I believe with all my heart that it was the will of God
that brought our lives together, and I believe that He
is present here today, to join us together as man and wife.
What a difference it makes for when God touches something,
it's never the same again.

I praise God for His goodness in bringing you to my life.
I want to be your Christian wife and I ask our Heavenly Father,
that together, we might serve Christ and in His sight be one.

In our marriage there will always be the three of us: you and me,
and God. Thus we will always have the power of God's
unconditional love to prepare us for eternity.

I ask you as David asked in Psalm 34:3 Magnify the Lord
with me and let us exalt His name together.

Today, I dedicate my love to you, and our marriage to God
and my life to Christ.

I love you and may God be the wings that lift us up
high in our marriage.

Our TOKEN Vows (exchange of watches):

JR's Vow:

Reva, I give you this watch as a token and symbol of
my love for you. God said that there is a season and
time for every purpose under heaven. Today, God has
touched this moment in our lives.

Every time the sun rises and every time the sun sets,
let us treasure every second and every moment in
between.

Let us not allow our lives to get far too busy that we
forget to take time for each other.

Let us always take time to hold hands and give hugs
and sneak kisses for no reason.

Let us always take time to laugh, to cry together and
be there for each other.

And throughout our time together, I pray that we
might grow into the likeness of Jesus our Lord and
Savior.

I thank God for the honor of going through time
with you and with each passing moment, I will love you
until time is no more.

Reva's Vow:

J. R., I give you this watch as a token and symbol of
my love for you .

Time is life - it is irreversible and irreplaceable.
Each moment of life we have together is a miracle and a
gift from God.

Let us always take time for each other: take time
to talk and listen to each other.

Let us always take time to wish upon stars, whisper
secrets, be silly, and dream up wild adventures.

Let us always take time to love each other the way we
do today.

Let us always take time for God, time to worship
and time to pray together.

And we must take time to prepare ourselves for eternity,
by making sure that the part we play in this world,
brings only honor and glory to God each and every
day.

friends and family, for taking your precious time to
share in our joy and happiness on this special day.
